Body Massage

A good massage helps in relaxing the body and also releases stress. The key to good massage lies with the person doing it.
A good massage needs time, patience, control and right timing. If the massage is not done properly then the whole purpose of getting it done gets defeated. To begin with, first of all the person taking the massage should be at ease. The person who gives the massage is called a masseuse. It is very important for the masseuse to understand and know the body. The masseuse has to be very careful in stimulating and manipulating the muscles and the body tissues.
It is very important to maintain hygiene for massage. The most used body parts are the hands. Hands should be clean and well sanitised. The posture of the person receiving massage is also very important. The idea is to relax the whole body, so lying down position is the best keeping sufficient place around for the masseuse. Oils are good to use, but best are warm hands. Nothing works better than our own hands. Lubrication of body with oils is not essential. The muscles need to be relaxed first.
A good massage will help to reduce heart rate, increase blood circulation, and lower blood pressure. Warming up is very important before the actual massage. Warm up is done with the use of both the hands applying gentle pressure up and down the body in circular movements. After warm up, the massage gets deeper. Hard but gentle strokes are applied in upwards and downwards movement. When massaging the knots, one must remember the use of thumb becomes important. Thumb should be used in circle on top of the knot. You don’t have to press hard, gentle movement does the magic. One has to keep checking with the person receiving the massage about the pressure of the hands. If the client wants the masseuse to apply more pressure, then the masseuse should do it with great caution.
At the end, massage should get back to the warm up mode. The movement of the hands should be similar to the beginning warm up session.
