Summer might be over, but we're still lusting after Zooey Deschanel's long, flowing locks and hippy-chic hair - her onstage look is our hairstyle of the week and we show you how to recreate it at home.
Celebrity stylist Mark Woolley told us: “Zooey's gorgeous tousled, free-flowing hair is a style that transcends through seasons and never goes out of fashion. The side-swept fringe frames her face perfectly, while the long, natural waves soften her features. Zooey has firmly cemented this look as a future modern classic.”
To get the look at home, follow Mark's steps to success: STEP ONE
Start by lightly back-brushing the hair at the crown to create volume and root lift, then set with a light dose of Kerastase Double Force Hairspray (£15.50, www.electric-hair.com). The extra height will give the impression of long tumbling waves with lots of natural movement. STEP TWO
Treat hair with a heat protection spray and using a Denman D75 Hot Barrel Brush (£15.50, www.electric-hair.com), curl small sections of hair – about an inch wide – from the mid-lengths to the ends evenly and allow the hair to cool.
STEP THREE
Gently wrap the fringe around the barrel brush to add fullness and direction if you want to sweep it to the side. STEP FOUR
Finish by running your fingers through the hair to separate the curls and tease strands out to create a more relaxed and natural tousled effect.
