Beauty Tips

Matis Chocolate Body WrapFeel guilty at the mere thought of indulging in your chocolate cravings?
We've found how to revel in a love of cocoa in a way that your body will actually thank you for.
Introducing the Matis Sheer Delight Body Wrap.THE TREATMENT:
The beauty benefits of cocoa have become widely known in the past decade and the Matis Sheer Delight Body Wrap promises to harness them, leaving you feeling invigorated and indulged with firmer and softer skin to boot. Plus, you can get your chocolate fix with none of the calories - what's not to love?
WHAT'S INVOLVED:
Arriving at the salon, my therapist (celeb beauty guru Hasti Parangi) explained how the different stages of the two-hour treatment would work. Firstly, an exfoliating gel was rubbed over my body to prime it for the body wrap. Large-grain exfoliators are a particular pet hate of mine so I immediately fell in love with this gel, which was made up of soft beads that didn't seem to touch, let alone irritate, my skin. Hasti is a real devotee of soothing the body, rather than putting it through its motions, which sounded good to me.
I then had to pop next door to shower the gel off before returning to the treatment room for a hot wax massage. Hasti offered me a choice of four scented candles - I chose chocolate, let's go all out - and used the warm melted wax to moisturise my skin. Then for the piece de resistance. The powdered chocolate formula was mixed with warm water in front of my eyes and looked and smelt just like a chocolate cake batter. Hasti then smoothed a thin layer onto my body while it was still warm and covered me with a cling film-like plastic wrap. The chocolate was left on for 20 minutes so Hasti treated me to a relaxing facial and head massage while we waited for the wrap's theobromine and polyphenols to work their anti-aging magic. Then it was off to the shower once more, before returning for head-to-toe moisturising.
Neville SalonTHE VERDICT:
After showering the exfoliating gel off my skin I could already feel a difference and the chocolate wrap took the smoothness of my skin one step further - I loved my limbs' silky texture and was loathe to shower the next morning in case I lost some of the glow. With the facial and head massage included, I felt like every bit of my body had been duly pampered although in terms of the treatment's promise to banish cellulite and firm my skin, I'm not convinced - 20 minutes covered in Angel Delight is no miracle cure. But there's no doubting the ultimate indulgence of the Body Wrap and it wasn't anywhere near as gloopy or messy as I'd expected.
